A direct line an assistant can use to ask your business a question

Reading a website is guessing. An interface is asking, and getting an answer that is not a guess.

All sixteen checks

What it is

In plain words, before anything else.

Everything else on this list is about being read. This one is about being asked. An agent interface is a small service at your domain that answers direct questions from software: what do you sell, is this available, what does this cost, can you take this booking.

The convention assistants are converging on is called MCP, and it is published at a fixed address so software can find it without being told. Think of it as the difference between an assistant reading your window display and an assistant asking your receptionist.

What it costs you

The loss you never see happen.

An agent that wants to ask you something and cannot will ask a business that can. You never see the question.

This is the check where nearly everybody is level, which is exactly why it is worth doing early. It is the last of these settings where being first still means anything.

Check it yourself

Do not take our word for it. Look.

This takes about a minute, costs nothing, and needs no account with us or anybody else. A finding you have confirmed with your own eyes is the only kind worth acting on.

  1. 1

    Visit yourdomain.com/.well-known/mcp.json.

  2. 2

A page of text describing tools means you have an interface published.

  3. 3

A not found page means you have none, which is where almost every small business stands today.

What we found

Out of 186 businesses we checked ourselves.

  • 186 of 186

had no agent interface published. Of those, one hundred and seventy five had no developer or API surface of any kind either.

Counted from our own checks of 186 real businesses, measured on 2026-09-10, one count per business. No business is named and none of their reports is public. The full write ups are in what we found.

How we fix it

What we do, and what we leave alone.

We host the interface for you, built from the catalog and details you have already given us, at your own domain. There is nothing for you to run and nothing to keep online.

You decide what it will answer. Anything you do not list, it does not know.
